Expect increasing clouds for the first part of the day today. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during the afternoon hours, mostly after 2 p.m. Some thunderstorms could become strong producing hail and gusty winds.

Here is the timing of the system moving through today:

Morning hours: Increasing clouds, no rain quite yet.

After 2 p.m.: Best chance for rain/storms to initiate.

5 p.m.: Showers and thunderstorms look promising as we head through the late afternoon/early evening hours today. We could also see some storms turning severe at this point as well. High temperatures will top out in the upper 70s today.

Midnight: The main severe weather threat looks to be east of us by midnight. However, rain showers are still likely with a possible thunderstorm.
