Saying goodbye to 918 Ohio Street

I’m watching a TV station being dismantled.

You know by now that we’re moving to a brand new, state of the art facility within the next few weeks. One of the interesting things about the move is to watch everyone begin ‘abandoning’ this old building. Days ago I walked through the newsroom and noticed shelves once filled with papers, pens and junk now bare.

Today I walked into the sales department area to find most of the cubicle walls gone. (Actually the room looked a little friendlier this way)

Anyhow, we are ‘abandoning ship’, or as Patrece would say preparing to say ‘sleep well’ one last time from the old TV station.

The clearing out and cleaning up is in high gear now. We are all chomping at the bit to move to our new home.

Stay tuned!

I have a lot of fond memories as a child going to the tv station with my dad, Don McCarty to do the 11 o’clock new on Friday nights. We used to play with the typewritters and then go to the studio and watch him do the news. Then on the way home, get pizza. Best wishes to all in your new building!

I remember going there on a field trip once and seeing how things worked and loving it (espically the weather wall) that building will def be missed when driving down Ohio

I remember when WTHI Radio was on 7th St. Now they are leaving Ohio. Life goes on. Many years from now they will move again. Progress thy name is change.
