Shake-Out Earthquake Drill Today!

February 7th, 2013 at 8:53 am by under Weather, WTHI Blog

The Great American “Shake Out” is a nation-wide earthquake drill and is set to take place this morning at 11:15 a.m. EST/10:15 CST.

More information can be found at the Shake-Out’s website:

The goal is prepare everyone to know what to do in case an earthquake do occur.

Destructive earthquakes are not limited to the west coast or foreign counties, they happen right here in the central United States. The New Madrid seismic zone was responsible for a series of deadly and powerful earthquakes in 1811 and 1812. The Wabash Valley seismic zone has affected our region directly.

If a quake does happen in our region, there are three words to keep in mind… drop, down to the floor, cover, under a sturdy piece of furniture, and hold, hold on until the ground stops moving.

  1. I do believe all the concepts you’ve introduced in your post. They are very convincing and will certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for starters. May just you please lengthen them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.
